We have heard from his daughter, Valerie, that John Nimmo, a long standing member of the Seniors Section died on Thursday 27th June while on holiday with his family in Gloucester.
John was a very good friend to a number of our members since joining the Club in 1973 - a few months after its founding.
He joined the Seniors, then called the Vets as you will remember, in 1990 and having served as Hon. Secretary for a few years, became Captain of the Section 1997-98.
In his early 80's the onset of renal failure curtailed his golf, and in fact he was on renal dialysis for the last 4 years, but he continued to visit the club to meet his many old friends and was regarded by us all as a true gentleman of great kindness and good humour who lived his 89 years well.
We understand his cremation in Gloucester is to be a private family affair but it is hoped a celebration of his life will be held at the club, possibly in August.
Our thoughts are with all of John's family at this time.
