Inter Club Match v Felixstowe - Away - 17th June 2019

Beautiful day for golf, bright sunshine with a stiff breeze.

Great improvement on last week.

Match 1

Ian Bickers & Malcolm Norton player Mike Pined & Allan Dawson.

Game played in good spirit never much in it.

It looked like a Stoke win on the 18th with Ian on the green 10’ from the hole, and Felixstowe over the back of the green in the rough.

Much to Ian’s surprise Mike their captain chipped in , Ian then missed the putt game halved.

Match 2

John Jardine & David Drew played Mike Pulford & Godfrey Batson.

Went one down on the first, Felixstowe putted in from off the green on the 3rd for half. Birdy on the 4th got us back to level, never more than 2 holes in it. John was giving away 14 shots but we managed to hold them. Won the last hole match all square.

Match 3

Allen Smith & Neil Ashwell played Jeff Deslandes & Mike Cassidy.Felixstowe went ahead by the turn, unable to pull them back, putting the problem, putts didn’t drop lost 5 & 4.

Match 4

Eric Fisher & Lionel Hatch played Steve Frost & James Young.

Lost 2nd to net eagle, Lionels hay fever bad due to being in the rough so much, lost 3 & 2.

Match 5

David Wilson & Adrian Cherry played Richard Plummer & Steve Smith

Adrian on form with 8 pars. Won 3 & 2.

Match 6 

Roger Davies & Brian Castle played Robert Hockin & Graham Phelps

Very close game only ever 1 hole in it. Game halved.

Match 7 

Malcolm Jones & Derek Adams played Andrew Hill & Brian Hunwicke

4 down after 5 it was always going to be difficult. Managed to pull back but lost 3 & 2. Malcom reckons he needed more sleep, but only lost 1 ball.

Match 8

Paul Sandfield & Terry Mitchell played Gary Nicholson & Steve Wright

Felixstowe went ahead but by 13 Stoke had pulled them back to level.

Won 2 up.

 

Very enjoyable day at Felixstowe with an excellent lunch of fish & chips and a choice of desserts.

 

Lost 4 - 1/2   3 - 1/2
