Senior Captain's Charity Day - 1st July 2019

MONDAY 1st JULY 2019

An excellent days fun and games on the Gainsborough course, which was in superb condition and playing very well. A shotgun start in teams of 4, 2 to score on par 5’s, 3 on par 4’s and all to score on par 3’s as well a# the traditional nearest the pins and longest drive competitions.

Success today to one of two 3 man teams of Tony Carman, Mike Webley and Richard Middleton who, after adjustment for their ‘missing’ player, scored 126 points. Well done to you all.

After an excellent lunch members listened, with great interest, to Alexandra Haswell on the superb work undertaken by Macmillan Cancer Support, our Captain’s chosen charity during his year. Our members then gave excellent support to a very good auction of 24 different lots, as a result of the auction very close to £2500 was raised to support our charity, bringing the figure raised so far during the year to approaching £4000 - an outstanding result. Many thanks must go to everyone that supported the auction in whatever way. In addition to the funds raised by members a further sum of £750 will be received from Barclays as ‘matched funding’.

An excellent day, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
