The Committee has decided to trial a new competition in the form of a 9 hole Stableford. It will be held on 19th July with tee times between 4.00 pm and 4.56 pm. It will be a qualifying competition, played over the front 9 holes of the Gainsborough course, from the green tees.
The objective is twofold:
1. To provide a qualifying competition to those members who are unable to manage a full 18 hole round and/or are unable to play at the time or on the days when our comps are usually scheduled. (Please note however that entry is not restricted to those members but is open to all)
2. To afford the opportunity to members to sit down in the bar during the evening after they have played and enjoy a drink and perhaps something to eat in a relaxed and social manner. (There will be no organised meal; it will be up to members to order across the bar if they wish to do so).
If successful, it is envisaged that such competitions may be held monthly throughout the summer.
Not the biggest field, only 11 players, but an ideal opportunity for members that cannot easily cope with an 18 hole comp to maintain an ‘active’ handicap.
Congratulations to Malcolm Norton with 16 points.
